This is a Web Server Engine that is included
with TNA 4 and works in conjunction with the reports module
to enable reports to be viewed via your standard Web browser.
This document discusses starting, configuration
and the using the TNA 4 Report Engine Web Server option.
Changing a Report's
Defaults
To set up the Web Server so that
Web access can be obtained, proceed as follows:
-
At the Configuration
module, select Server Options from the Setup menu.
-
Select the Web Server
settings option and enter the Server IP Address or Name
that will be used to recognise it on the network. The server
address can be entered as an address i.e. TNAWeb if the client has
the ability to resolve the name through a DNS server. Otherwise
the IP Address of the PC on which the web server is installed.

-
Select the Activate Web Server
tick box and enter the Port number to be used. The
default Web Server port is 80. However if there is another Web Server
running on this machine then 80 is probably not available. In that
case use a port number like 8080 or 8088. Minimize the window.
-
Select Ok to save the
settings.
Note: Whenever the IP address or name of
the web server is changed remember that the server must be
restarted.
To start the TNA 4 Server, click on the Window's Start
button, go to Programs / TNA 4 and select the
Server Module program option. The TNA Server
window will be displayed.

When the Server has started and is running on the computer,
it will appear as a small icon in the system tray. For Example;
=

If you click on this icon with your mouse then the TNA 4 Server
window will be displayed.
Tip: It is recommended that
a shortcut to this program be added to the Window's Start-menu and
will result in this application automatically starting every
time the computer is started. The file location is normally:
C:\Program Files\TNA4\Serve32.exe.
The TNA WEB Server is configured from the Configuration module
(see above).
When the TNA 4 Server window is displayed, select the
Server Options settings option and you can see if the Web
Server option has been selected and also the Port used.

To set Reports for viewing via the Web, go to the Print Reports
option in the User module or Edit Reports option in
the Configuration module. Select the required report in the
list and then click the Change button.

At the Update
Reports Default Parameters window for a particular report
that is to be viewed via the Web Browser, select the Format
settings option and set the Web option in the Category area to
be active.

To view Web Reports, open your Web Browser and type in the computer
Name or IP address where the TNA 4 Report Engine has been installed
and is running. If you have the machine name (for example Daisy)
and the port number (for example 8088) then enter the
following in your browser;
http://daisy:8088
you should then see the login screen appear. If you only have the
IP number (for example 192.168.2.34) and the port number
(for example 8088) then use;
http://192.168.2.34:8088
If (and only if) the port number is set to 80 then you can call
it without the port number. For example;
http://daisy
When the Login page appears enter User Name and Password
and then select the Ok button.
The Browse Reports page will then be displayed. Select which
report you wish to view and then click on the Print button
and the Report Options page will be displayed. Type in the
From and To Dates for when the report is to be generated.
Select the Employee or Group of Employees for whom
the report is to be generated using the appropriate buttons.
Click on the Start button. Once the relevant data has been
retrieved, the report will be displayed in the browser window. Use
the Close button at the bottom of the report to close the
window.
Up to 60 users can simultaneously view reports at any time. If more
than 60 users will be viewing reports, install and run a second
TNA 4 Server Module on another TNA 4 machine.
