When an employee takes a partial day for leave,
then calculating the hours that should be applied can be very
difficult. For situations like this we have Part Day leave
types. When a part day leave type is used the the processing engine
does not allocate any hours to the employee, but rather the person
capturing the leave is able to enter the hours instead.
This document discusses using these leave types,
a different document will discuss creating them.
Putting an Employee on Leave for Part

About Employees option.)
Highlight the employee that is going on leave. Select the
Payroll
Leave option.

Click the Add button to a leave
record. (All pretty normal so far).
Using the Application settings option, select the Part Day leave type that you want to use.
Set the three Dates as per normal.
Set the Paid Leave Days to be a partial day (for example
0.5 for a half day.)
BEFORE clicking on Ok....

After Clicking on the Daily hours button

the hours for the Leave part of the day. The working part of
the day will be processed and allocated to the employee, by
the processor, as normal.)
