Access Control - Time Zones

Creating

Time Zones are created in the Configuration Module.
  • To start, choose the Time Zones option from the Setup / Access Control menu.
  • Here you can create any number of Time Zones Sets. Each Set has a number, and a description. Later on you'll assign these Sets to Clocks, Shifts and Employees.
  • Inside each set are all the times for each day of the week. Each day will usually have one period when the clockings are allowed. However in some cases you may want more than one period per day. For example restaurants may allow clockings in the morning, when cleaning is done, and later in the evening when the serving begins.
  • The exact number of Time Zones is limited only by the hardware. Because of compression techniques used by the clock it's impossible to say exactly how many Time Zones are possible. However at least 224 time Zones are possible in a 1 week period.
Assigning to the Clock

The system is designed to be fairly flexible. Thus the Time Zones can be assigned at 4 levels:
  • The Time Zone assigned to a clock. This limits the clockings for everyone one the clock unless;
  • A Time Zone is assigned to the employee's Shift. This limits the clockings for everyone on the shift, on all clocks, unless;
  • A Time Zone is assigned to the Employee. This limits the clockings for that employee, on all clocks unless;
  • An Override Time Zone is assigned to the clock. This typically would be used for access to a store room, or sensitive area, where access is limited regardless of the employee.
To Assign a Time Zone, or Override Time Zone to a clock, then use the Configuration module. Select the Clocks option from the Setup / Clocks menu, highlight the device and click on Change.

Using the Details settings option, make sure the clock is marked as an Access Control clock. Select the Access Control - Time Zones  option.

Here you can Disable the Time Zones for the clock or you can set the Time Zone for the clock (see (1) above). You can also set the Override Time Zone for the clock (see (4) above). Lastly you can set the Time Zones to be for the In clocking only. This allows the employee to clock Out at any time.

Assigning to the Shift

  • You can attach a Time Zone to the Shift in the Configuration module.
  • Select the Payroll Shifts option from the Setup / Shifts menu.
  • Choose the shift you want to attach the Time Zone to and click on the Change button.
  • Using the Setup Wizard use the Next button and advance to the set Access Time Zone entry and select the required Access Time Zone. If you leave this at zero then no time zone is assigned for the shift. Select Finish once completed.
Assigning to the Employee
  • This is done in the User module.
  • Go to the list of employees by selecting Information About Employees from the Query or Edit menu. Select the employee and click on the Change button.
  • Using the Access settings option, set the Time Zone for the employee to one of the sets you've created.
