Installing TNA 4 for use with a SQL Server

 Applicable Version

MS SQL version 2000 and SP3

 Discussion :

The version of TNA 4 enables the system data to be saved to a SQL Database. On initial startup of TNA 4, the system will copy the files to the SQL Server and this SQL Database will then be used by TNA 4 for the storage of system data.

Installing TNA 4 for SQL :

  1. Run the TNA 4 Install program and follow each prompt.

  2. Once installed and TNA 4 is started, the following window will be displayed requesting the following information:

i.           Server:  This is the SQL Server where the Database is located (having already been created by your system administrator).

ii.          Database Name:  This is the actual SQL database where the TNA 4 data is to reside.

iii.        User Name and Password:  This is the allocated name and password required to access the database.

  1. Select the Connect button to connect to the SQL Server.

Using the Remember Password and Auto Logon tick boxes will prevent you from having to manually connect every time you restart TNA 4.

You will notice that the *.tps data files will still be installed locally when installing TNA 4 for SQL. These files must not be deleted even though they are not used for saving system data as some the system procedures require this files to be present.

With thanks to Shawn Mason of I.S. Software Design Associates, we are able to provide a PDF copy of a 3 Day Training Seminar manual that was presented by him on Clarion and MS SQL.
