Installing & Configuring the Generic Text Printer (Windows 95)

    1.0 and later
Installing the Generic Text printer
  1. Go to the Start Menu
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go To Printers
  4. If the Generic Text printer exists then go to Configuring the Generic Printer
  5. Double-Click on Add Printer
  6. Follow the Wizard instructions to install the printer. The Printer manufacturer is Generic and the Printer is Generic / Text only
Configuring the Generic Printer
  1. Go to the Start Menu
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Go To Printers
  4. Right-Click on Generic Text
  5. Choose Properties from the list that pops up.
  6. Click on the Device Options tab near the top of the window.
  7. Near the bottom left corner of the screen is a small list box entitled character mapping. Scroll the box so the number 128 is highlighted. Click on the number if necessary to highlight the number.
  8. Click on the entry field just to the right of the small list box, called On Printer.
  9. Use the backspace key to remove any characters displayed there.
  10. Then holding down the Ctrl key press the letter L. You will see ^L appear in the entry field.
  11. Click on the OK button to save the changes.
